Line of sight calculator
Place your character: the squares you can see and target light up in green. Drag the scenery and characters to move them.
How is line of sight worked out?
The rule
There is a line of sight between two squares when you can draw a straight line from the centre of one to the centre of the other without crossing a square that blocks line of sight. Square corners never block: a line passing exactly between two diagonal squares stays open.
What blocks line of sight
Trees and all characters, allies included. Bushes stop movement but not line of sight, and crates block nothing: a character can climb on them and then gains +1 max
. Some scenery items have their own effects (an ice cube behaves like a crate): hover over them in the scenery palette to see them. The special squares of some maps (lava, sky…) cannot be occupied; in 4.x, lava can be targeted (adjustable under the legend).
Range
It is counted square by square, never diagonally. Set the spell’s range to see in green only the squares that are both visible and in range; “in line” limits it to squares in the same row or column.
On a phone
Choose a tool then tap a square. Pinch the board (or use + and −) to zoom, slide a finger across the board to move around it. Drag a scenery item or a character to move it: it lifts above your finger to stay visible.
